THE industrial history of Thornhill Lees is the subject of an exhibition on Wednesday.
Ravenshall School, on Ravensthorpe Road, hosts the Transforming Thornhill Lees exhibition, which catalogues the area's industrial heritage and the people who helped make its history.

The exhibition, launched at Thornhill Lees Community Centre last July, was the culmination of nearly two years' work and research by residents and Kirklees Museums and Galleries staff.

The exhibition also includes a life-size model of a tram designed by school caretaker Nigel Ingham.

And visitors can take a journey from the blankets made at Wormalds and Walkers mill, Ingham's Collieries, Austin's Steelworks and Standard Patent Glazing to Kilner Brothers Glass Factory, the Electric Transformer Factory and countless small shops and businesses. The free tour starts at 6pm.

Further tours are being held on Wednesdays March 10 and April 21, also beginning at 6pm. Book a place by calling 01484 223800.
