MORE than 500 people attended the funeral of a Dewsbury teenager who was killed in Crow Nest Park.
On Friday mourners gathered to pay their final respects to 17-year-old Ammar Aslam who died in the park on May 25.
Hundreds of people stood before the teenager's coffin near Savile cricket field in Savile Town, as prayers were offered for him by an imam from the area.
Earlier Mr Aslam's sister, Samreen, 25, said: "This has killed the whole family. It is going to be there for ever. He was my baby brother.
"I hope his soul is resting in Heaven in peace. I am sure he will rest in Heaven. He was innocent - he will be at peace."
On Saturday Miss Aslam and her parents accompanied Mr Aslam's body to Pakistan where he was buried in the family graveyard at their ancestral home in Ratala, near Islamabad, on Sunday.
Earlier, an inquest into Mr Aslam's death was opened and adjourned at Bradford Coroner's Court, pending the outcome of a trial. Mr Aslam, who had lived with his parents at St John Parade in Dewsbury, was found with severe head injuries close to the gates of the walled garden in Crow Nest Park.
Coroner Roger Whittaker said: "I am grateful to the family for their forbearance in this dreadful situation knowing how they would have wished to have it (the body) earlier than has been possible."
Four boys and a man have been charged with the murder of Mr Aslam. They also face charges of robbing him and are due to stand trial in November at crown court.
