PASSENGERS on a bus had a lucky escape as the vehicle collided with a car on icy roads in Hanging Heaton on Wednesday morning.
Rush-hour traffic was hit as police closed part of High Street.

A 65-year-old woman who was in the car was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital with minor injuries after the collision involving a double-decker bus and a Citroen car.

Emergency teams were called after a witness alerted reported the incident just after 9am. No-one on the bus was hurt.

The road was blocked for a while and gritting wagons were called out.

Around the same time, two cars were involved in a collision on the ring road near Dewsbury Railway Station. An ambulance was called but no-one was seriously hurt.
