Alexander Morris, of Gomersal, has never missed a day in his time at the school.

The 18-year-old, who aspires to work for the Environment Agency working in river management, said his 100 per cent attendance record has made school life easier.

He said: "My parents really encouraged me to go to school when I was younger, but as I got older I wanted to make sure I attended every day.

"I didn't want to miss school because I didn't want to get left behind and then spend time having to catch up with everyone else."

Alex added that he was lucky not to have succumbed to any illness which might have kept him off school.

Sixth form learning mentor Julia Hamill said: "Alex has been a credit to himself and to the school throughout his time here, not only with his excellent attendance, but with his commitment to his work and the quiet determination he has shown throughout.

"With his excellent work ethic and determination to succeed, Alex will do very well at university and we wish him well for his future."

Alex hopes to go to Birmingham University in September and study geology and geography.
