Hit songs of the 1960s are set to wow Motown music fanatics
Audiences will be dancing in their seats when the Magic of Motown brings live performances of classic hits including Stop in the Name of Love; Signed, Sealed, Delivered; What Becomes of the Broken Hearted; I Heard it Through the Grapevine and Blame it on the Boogie to Wakefield.
The hit US show is back at Wakefield’s Theatre Royal for the fourth time and promises to deliver showstopping performances of 36 massive Motown chart toppers.
It features a stellar cast, 16 costume changes, choreographed routines, a live band and hits by The Supremes, Temptations, Four Tops, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, Lionel Richie and more.
Producer Michael Taylor said: “This year is a very special one as far as Motown is concerned. It marks 50 years of number one hits from the world’s favourite record label.”
Male lead Andre Lejaune said the cast had spent the end of 2012 rehearsing an all-new arena show for 2013 to celebrate this golden anniversary.
He said: “With many new numbers added to our already hit-packed show we needed to ensure the choreography was right on point. The show is called The Magic of Motown for a reason, it’s our job to ensure theatregoers have a truly magical night to remember.”
The show takes place on Saturday March 2 at 7.30pm at the Drury Lane theatre. Tickets are £18-£23 from the box office on 01924 211 311.
