Impressed by club's display

I SAW an article in your paper regarding the D-Day celebrations at the Old Colonial Club, Mirfield, last weekend and so decided to go.
I am a member of HM Armed Forces and have just returned from serving abroad in hot, dusty environments – say no more.
On arriving at the Old Colonial I was taken aback by the fact there was a memorial in the grounds and the gardens were full of colour and made a good setting for the memorial stone. Wreaths of poppies adorned the stone. Going to the club with my parents I could not believe what I saw. It was like going back half a century or more, the place is almost a living museum and depicts some of Britain's finest hours.
I tried some of the beer that was brewed to mark the D-Day anniversary – not bad at all!
We enjoyed a pleasant lunch and then left and walked back into the 21st Century – not a pleasant thought, but reality.
I shall come back, hopefully, and enjoy some more of what Britain once was. Whoever sorted all of this experience out should be an advisor to HM Government for sure.
