A worrying future

The response to your correspondent Christine Hyde by the two senior officials of the new NHS commissioning group “A healthy future” is worrying.

Most of the points she raised about the dangers of privatisation are ignored and where she talks about the local constitution they highlight the national one.

Let’s hope this new privatising body ups its game soon!

In the meantime over 100 private companies and corporations are now to be allowed to provide health care as if from the NHS – hearing tests to be carried out by Specsavers no less.

Thus our NHS is being broken up and even the recumbent BMA has said it is worried.

Not so Dr Kelly who told me when we met last year that there was no intention to privatise the NHS.

No wonder he finds answering straight questions from local patients a problem.
